Whether for corporate gifts or to personalise your shop’s products we are happy to work with you to create custom products.
Some of our existing art can be quickly adapted to be used on other products – if this is the case the process is simple and straightforward
If the design is unique or branded, we usually charge a reasonable design fee and require minimum quantities of each product designed, enough to justify the product development process.
We recommend using double sided mounting tape available at any hardware store. For reference, the edges around our hexagonal wall art are 6mm wide. As the art is light we usually only put 3 very small pieces along the edges and one extra to support delicate areas if necessary. Link to tape from Bunnings – Australia
We recommend using a level to mount the first hexagon art piece, then we have provided a convenient mounting spacer to help align any adjacent art pieces with the first piece.
Follow the instructions provided with the mounting tape purchased. Many mounting tape options can be removed easily when heated with a hair dryer.
Small hanging nails are also a viable option for wall mounting.
We do not warrant any of our products against damage caused by mounting or removal from the wall.
Can I use BluTac or similar to mount my wall art?
No. We advise against using Blu-Tac or similar on our wall art pieces – we found that after a couple of days the oils from the BluTac left marks on the natural wood
BluTac may be used briefly to help visualise the full display but we would recommend creating the display on a horizontal surface rather than using BluTac on a wall.
BluTac can not be used as a permanent mounting method, the art pieces will eventually fall.
Who designs Our products?
We do! Our products are all designed in-house by Sarah and Hyrum. Typically Sarah is the key creator of floral, animal and natural art, while Hyrum claims the more architectural and object based art, and we blur those lines when necessary to get the best results. Learn more in About Us
Who makes our products?
We make it all ourselves in our workshop in the charming suburb of Rowville, Victoria! We have invested in some of the best technology and equipment to assist us in producing large quantities of products from our workshop.
Our materials are supplied by Australian Manufacturers and suppliers. We source recycled packaging and materials where possible
Straya Art is proud to be registered with the Australian Made Campaign, and is licensed to use the Australian Made logo on our products.
What timber do we use in our products?
We prefer to use Tasmanian Blackwood because it has excellent grain and colour variation ranging from rich dark to vibrant light tones. It also gains more character as it weathers for uncoated pieces.
Using veneered timbers maximises the sustainability of these natural resources. We include veneered plywoods and veneered craftwoods that are certified formaldehyde free to create our products. It is important to remember that the same species of timber can vary from tree to tree in grain, texture and colour.
Are our products safe to send/ take overseas?
Yes, all our products are safe to send or take overseas because they have been processed and treated. Our wall art is especially designed to pack even a large wall display into a small space such as a suitcase. All our products are light and flat making them easy to carry or post, ideal for gifting or keeping.
Due to the manufacturing process the timber goes through our products are deemed low-risk for importation concerns.
What happens if liquid is spilled on our products?
DO NOT EXPOSE WALL ART TO OIL OR WATER (this only applies to wall art) this will void any warranty . Artistically, we have decided to keep the wall art uncoated to preserve its most natural form and to allow it to naturally weather in place. Do not allow wall art pieces to come in contact with oil or water.
All other products have been coated and sealed, which protects them from water marking or staining. Minor spills will not cause damage, For best results, wipe with a damp cloth as needed. Do not expose any of our products to water for long periods of time. Do not submerge any of our products.
